Purchase options and add-ons
Brianna O’Connor had been looking forward to spending Christmas in Spain with her friend, Susan. Instead, she found herself in her sister’s car heading for the Scottish Highlands to spend it with family she barely knew.
Andrew McKinnon had come to the Highlands to share Christmas, and a secret that was about to change his life forever, with his parents.
Surrounded by family thrust together by Brianna’s well-meaning brother, Daniel, Brianna and Andrew are attracted to each other, something Brianna had never expected would happen. Bruised and damaged as a teenager, can she now trust God to overcome her distrust of men and open her heart to this softly spoken handsome Scotsman?
A heart-warming Christmas story that can be read all year round, "A Highland Christmas" can be read as a stand-alone novel, or as the final book of the highly acclaimed “The Shadows Series”
"Another great book by this author! She always has God in her books which I love. There is also struggle, faith and romance in her books. Just really great books with a little bit of every emotion. Everyone should read this author!" Noma B

- Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2020I loved everything about this series and in fact found it hard to put down. The characters were so relatable and easy to like. There was suspense, heartwarming empathy and good development of character. It left me wanting to know what happens in their futures. It was very well written! I also felt like I was in England, Ireland and Scotland. I always like the way the characters found their way to God through their struggles.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2018I totally enjoyed The Shadow Series. Juliette Duncan has a way of telling the most complex real life stories and showing how God can intervene when we allow His love and His grace to comfort us. I'm not going to lie, the heart wrenching stories in this series had me in tears many time, but I rejoiced when one by one as several characters came to the saving knowledge of God's love accepting His perfect gift of Jesus as a loving savior. And furthermore I long to visit England, Ireland, and Scotland after reading this series. Thank you Juliette Duncan for allowing God to use your skills so masterfully!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2019A Highland Christmas is the beautiful culminating story of the Shadows series. At times the cast of characters gets unwieldy, after all there are eight siblings, but the story has a lot of heart and loose ends get tied up. This story will be best enjoyed if read after the other books in the series. Two things I have especially appreciated about this series are the way the characters’ lives were before they came into relationship with Jesus and how their lives were transformed by Him. Also, the stories are not preachy, but are solidly and unapologetically Christian.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2017Brianna and Andrews story is truly remarkable. Watching these two will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. The characters in this story are all very special people. You will feel God working throughout this whole book. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could. Juliette Duncan is a amazing author.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2017Lizzyand Daniel have invited their extended family for Christmas in the highland retreat where they minister God's love to hurting people. Many of their family have suffered loss and tragedy, but God is doing amazing healing in this rugged Scotish retreat where His presence is felt so clearly. Brianna is attracted to Andrew, but senses he is hiding something. Andrew struggles with how to share his secret with Brianna and his family as he is not sure of their reaction. Juliette Duncan brings God's love and care through the tough situations of life in a very touching way. This is a great ending to a series that will toch your heart and bring tears and smiles.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2017I do believe this is the best of The Shadows Series. Andrew and Brianna were made for each other. And reading how they got together was very enjoyable. The book is easy to read and well worth your time. If you love lovely Christian romance books, then this book is for you. What a wonderful start to the Christmas season.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2021Juliette Duncan is one of my favorite authors. This series is heartwarming and inspiring. I love the characters and how they grow in their faith. I highly recommend this!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2019I loved the series, read the books all in a row, one after the other. The first two were the best but all were worth reading. The only reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is that later books borrowed too much from typical romance novel terminology, things like 'he lightly brushed her hand and set her whole body on fire.' It's not realistic and for me, distracts from the real story. There's still enough of substance to keep me interested. I do recommend the entire series.

5.0 out of 5 stars A well-done, delightful read!
This well-done story by Juliette Duncan is truly a Christmas filled with love, possible tragedies and surprises for all, and not just in the wrapped gifts. When large families get together for Christmas, one can generally expect some surprises and this bunch from broken and divided families are no different - from the preachers to the jailbirds. The story really warms up nicely when sweet Brianna, with a sad and broken past of her own, meets up with handsome Andrew, who also has a past unknown to his family and friends.
This author does an amazing job with her editing and her story telling and I gladly recommend this book to young teens all the way up to the aging grandma's. It's a delightful read!

Enjoyed this Christmas story with challenging discussions of issues in society today. Showing how in love with grace we can confront issues like drugs and out of wedlock pregnancies. Helping lost people find forgiveness and faith.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read.
This is the first book that I have read of Juliette Duncan and I loved it! She treated the themes of drug addiction and relationships so well, bringing in unconditional love beautifully. The book was so well written, I couldn't put it down. I look forward to reading the other books in the series.
